Alternative To Kontera

As you already know, Kontera is an excellent ad network that can help you greatly increase the earnings from your blog.  The only proble that I have heard with Kontera is the difficulty new bloggers are having getting their site approved.  In text advertising doesn’t have to be limited to only the high traffic blog sites anymore.

MediaText is another great in text ad network that seems to be much easier to get accepted than it’s counterpart.  The ads displayed through the MediaText network appear only when  target keywords are displayed in your post.  When your readers hover on these links a floating ad appears (I’m sure you have already seen this).

I have recently began testing MediaText on several of my sites and have to say that so far everything is going well.  They offer excellent support and always pay on time.

If you have a relatively new blog, or a well established one, and are interested in monetising your site with in text ads, check out MediaText.  They may provide another excellent revenue stream for you and your content site.

Finding Content For Your Blog

Finding content for your blog is sometimes a difficult task for many bloggers. If you have been following my blog for a while, you know how much I like using press releases as a major source of information. In particular, PRWeb provides an excellent resource for finding many of the net’s top stories.

PRWeb is broken down into specific, niche categories which make finding your way around the site a breeze. Now they have made some changes that will even make finding useful content much easier.

Vocus’ PRWeb Launches Enhanced Features for Improved User Experience

Vocus, Inc (NASDAQ: VOCS), a leading provider of on-demand software for public relations management, announced enhancements to its PRWeb platform, a leading online news distribution service. The upgraded features increase the functionality of the platform while providing the user with a simplified, more intuitive experience.

PRWeb’s platform now includes:

  • Enhanced Search - PRWeb’s search algorithm and interface now index a broad range of PRWeb content including images, trackbacks and podcasts, allowing readers to easily locate all PRWeb content. Additionally, users can generate an RSS feed based on their results, creating a live search for the same criteria in their viewer and website.
  • Improved News Content Management - PRWeb will now provide users with a file management system to store all their multimedia content in one centralized location. Incorporating an AJAX-based interface, users can easily drag-and-drop news images and file attachments into their releases.
  • Added Social Media Capabilities - PRWeb’s BlogThis, a tool to help bloggers write about PRWeb news, will now incorporate PRWeb Feature Videos, allowing bloggers to include these videos in their post with the click of a mouse. Additionally, BlogThis will now be made available to any blogger who visits the PRWeb news releases.

“Incorporating feedback from its customers, PRWeb continues to evolve and ensure that customers can easily take advantage of our social media platform,” said Bill Wagner, chief marketing officer of Vocus, Inc. “These features provide the enhanced usability to allow customers, journalists and bloggers to easily access and report on PRWeb’s news.”

New Web 2.0 Social Bookmarking Site Hits The Scene

I stumbled across another Web 2.0 social bookmarking scene today and thought I would talk about it a bit. EarthFrisk (EF) is the latest of Web 2.0 social sites that caters to both visitors and webmasters alike. EF is sort of a MySpace social networking site with a twist of Digg.

As a registered user of EF you are able to submit your favorite blog posts or any post you come across while searching the web. You are also provided your own “personal” page where you can blog about anything that crosses your mind. This, in my opinion, is a great way to build relationships while you are spreading your knowledge and expertise about your chosen niche.

Some of the best features of EF include:

  • A Full Social Networking Side that anyone can create blogs, groups, share photos and more.
  • A Voting side where members can promote their blogs, news items and articles - allowing others to vote and comment on them.
  • An Ef it Button (originally derived from a curse term) where your site visitors can jump to the most popular sites submitted by others, all the while not leaving your site!
  • A full article directory enabling anyone to upload thier articles.
  • A Section called ‘Create a Page’ where anyone can create whole pages to promote their blogs, sites or whatever else they feel like sharing.
  • A full Blinkx Video Wall where anyone can search for videos from across all platforms and companies such as Myspace, YouTube and Daily Motion Video. Results displayed on a huge ‘Matrix Like’ Video Wall. (source PRWeb)

EarthFrisk, I’m sure will grow to be a solid contender in the battle of Web 2.0 social bookmarking sites. With all the options available through their site and the continued explosion in popularity of Web 2.0 social networks, EF is sure to be a success.
