I have made several posts on the effectiveness of sponsoring a Wordpress theme.  It is and extremely low cost method of obtaining hundreds of backlinks to your blog is a relatively short period of time.  And since sponsoring Wordpress themes is in full effect, there’s little doubt that scammers are on the horizon.

There have been several cases of “coders” simply tweaking an already released theme and trying to sell sponsor links.  How do I know this, because I was a victim of this type of scam.  Fortunately, I received a refund for the link I purchased.

My point here is simple, do your research before you consider sponsoring a Wordpress or any other theme.  Make sure that the theme you are sponsoring is original and the “seller” has a good reputation.

If your link is present on a stolen design you may be just as liable as the person who sold the links.  Always be safe and do your homework before spending any money online.

I finally bit the bullet and sponsored a new Wordpress theme. I made a fairly low bid at Digital Point forum for a link on the new Swoosh Wordpress theme, and what do you know I won. Usually these sponsor links sell for much more than I paid.

I know some people are against sponsoring a Wordpress theme, but I am not one of those people. It is an extremely fast way to gain tons of backlinks to your blog very quickly. In just two days, Swoosh has been downloaded 102 times. That’s pretty quick if you ask me.
