Adding A Custom Header To A Wordpress Blog Part 2

I recently posted a video that covered the basic steps in adding a custom header to a Wordpress blog. However simple that video appeared to be, there were still a few tips that were left out. Mainly getting rid of your blog’s title and description without effecting your on page optimization.

This follow up video will guide you trough the steps needed to maintain a search engine friendly blog. It will show you how to add your new custom Wordpress header and get rid of the floating blog title and description text. If you are new to editing Wordpress themes, this may not be as simple as you think. But after watching the video, you should have little trouble doing the mods yourself.

Don’t have a boring Wordpress theme. By adding your own custom Wordpress header you can easily create your own “look”. I know that your content is what really matters, but if your theme doesn’t appeal to your readers they may not stay around long enough to read your world changing posts. Again, just my two cents.

Good luck and much success… and get to adding your new Wordpress custom header.

Another New Social Bookmarking Site Launched

Imagine that, another new social bookmarking site has hit the internet scene. The only thing that makes this site unique is it’s central theme… Wordpress. Whether you have a Wordpress blog or design Wordpress themes, you are free to submit your info to Afralug, the new Wordpress social bookmarking site.

Afralug is a PR4 site that had a digg-like design. In fact, Afralug’s bookmarks read dig and look very similar to their big brother’s bookmarks. But, since I am a blogger and not a lawyer, I thought I would write a little post about their site.

I am a huge fan of Wordpress and will no doubt take part in Afralug’s service. If you don’t know by now, Wordpress is huge on the net. Because of it’s user friendly functionality and it’s simplicity to manage, Wordpress will continue to grow and expand for years to come. On days that my blog post revolves around anything Wordpress, (new themes, plugins, whatever) my blog traffic usually has a 20%-25% hike. I guess I’m not the only person who likes Wordpress!

Check out Afralug and see if their social bookmarking site is up to your standards. I understand that hundreds of these digg-like sites pop up everyday, but this one did catch my eye. Let me know what you think by commenting below. Always enjoy reading other people’s opinions.

Good luck and much success!

Top 10 Sites For Finding The Latest Wordpress Themes

I love how much Wordpress themes have evolved over a very short time. Widgets, plugins, you name it and somebody is going to develop it for Wordpress. This post goes out to the blogs and websites who have taken the time to either develop or host some of the best and latest Wordpress themes around.

I am a little partial, so please remember, this is only my opinion. If you don’t like my list, tough. It’s my blog and I will call it like I see it. (But feel free to leave a comment and correct any mistakes I make!)

Best Sites For Finding The Latest Wordpress Themes

10. Smashing Magazine - Great list of 83 classic Wordpress themes. If you can’t find a theme from this post, you don’t really need a new Wordpress theme.

9. Blog Flux Themes - Great site with tons of quality Wordpress themes. The changes in allowing you to see the CSS prior to downloading makes this site a perfect fit into my top 10 list.

8. alexking.org - Excellent site. Easy to navigate and well developed. Just not a big fan of the snapshots. Easily one of the best Wordpress sites on the net.

7. Digital Point Forums - I know, this one is a reach. But I use this site so much I had to include it on my list. Digital Point is not a Wordpress theme site per se, but it is the first place I look for newly developed themes. It provides great content for my blog, especially if I can post about the release of a new theme before the entire Blogosphere knows about it. You may have to search hard, but eventually you will find a beautiful Wordpress theme.

6. Dosh Dosh - If you are looking to incorporate Google Adsense into your Wordpress blog, this site has the net’s best Adsense Wordpress themes. I love themes that are organized into niche categories. Even though Adsense isn’t a true “niche”, you can’t knock the work involved in putting this post together. Great stuff!

5. BrianGardner.com - Huge fan of this site. Brian has some of the best Wordpress themes around and offers a very affordable service if you want your own custom design. My blog uses Brian’s Blue Zinfandel theme, and I love it.

4. Weblog Tools Collection - Always on top of the latest Wordpress theme designs. And you will probably learn something about Wordpress tools while searching for your newly updated theme.

3. Themes Box - I absolutely love the look of this site. It has to be one of the best designed sites that I have ever seen. It also has loads of free Wordpress themes.

2. Theme Viewer - Probably the number one site on the net for finding free Wordpress themes, just not number one on my list. Theme Viewer has everything you need when it comes to finding and downloading free Wordpress themes. Excellent resource.

1. Wp Themes Free - As I’ve said before, I’m a huge fan of categories. The easy navigation of this site and the themes listed in “niches” pushes it to number one on my list. I have found almost every Wordpress theme for my niche blogs from this site. Another great site for free Wordpress themes.

Well, there you have it. Another top ten list from a blogger infatuated with the changes in Wordpress designs. Thanks to all of the bloggers and webmasters who have taken the time to write their posts and develop their sites in order to make it easier on the rest of us. Keep up the good work.
