Remembering How I Wasted My Time

Well, I finally got off my lazy behind and decided it was time to clean house. I have spent the better part of the day organizing (always tough for me) my computer desk, file cabinets and everything else that happened to make my wife’s list. With both of us working from home and three kids always pulling out every piece of paper they can get their hands on, things can get pretty cluttered sometimes.

As I was going through some of my old notes, notes from way back in 2000, I got a big laugh of some of the crazy ways I tried to [tag]make money online[/tag]. I joined every paid to read survey site online and made maybe ten bucks.. what a waste of time!

I was your typical “opportunity jumper”, never staying with the same opportunity for more than one week at a time. If the money wasn’t coming in, I would move on to where the grass appeared to be so much greener. I guess I wasted about 18 months doing crazy things like this day in and day out. Another huge [tag]waste of time[/tag].

I can’t say it was all bad though, because I did get involved with a network marketing company in 2003 that continues to be my biggest money earner online. It is now at the point where I never do any advertising, mainly because of the many referrals I have continually growing my business (and also because I am not a big fan of network marketing). I really don’t know why I stuck with this program, but fortunately I did. I was just lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time.

My next big adventure was staring an article directory. It was really doing well, probably 20-30 new article were being submitted daily. This was also the time when I started my first blog which mainly targeted article marketing and article writing. Things were looking great… until my server crashed. And guess what… I had never, and I do mean never, backed up either my blog nor my 700 page article directory. Chalk that one up as a learning experience.

[tag]Best blogging tip[/tag] ever - Back up your blog consistently. For some strange reason I do it daily. Couldn’t imagine why!

The worst part of that whole experience was losing [tag]my blog[/tag]. This happened in 2004, a time where many had no idea what a blog even was let alone how powerful it could be. I could only imagine what that blog would be like today. Oh well, what can you do about it know. Live and learn I guess.

I really don’t know what inspired me to post about my little flashback. It was on my mind and since everyone is asleep at my house, you are the one who gets yo suffer through it. And also, to let you know that there is actually a human behind this blog, which I think we sometimes forget.
